Perceptive psychopedagogy
Aims
Psychopedagogy is a field of research which focuses on learning methods and is keen on developing differentiated tools for learning providing as best answers as possible to one's specific needs.
Perceptive psychopedagogy is a method founded and developed by Pr. Danis Bois, as much as fasciatherapy. Fascias are connective-tissue-membranes which cover, encase fexibly all of our body structures (bones, viscera, muscles...), separating them as much as binding with one another : fascias are all connected in a wide web, from head to toe and from depth to surface.
It is a support to perceive finely the movements inside of and the movements of the body. The body thus becomes a special partner from which one can learn about oneself. And it is about learning from oneself through movement and through moving by discovering the details at stake in the movement at a given moment.
When calling up the materiality of my whole body, i face the immobile or less engaged parts of myself. This thread of information refines my perception of myself and makes me access, for example, a sharper consciousness and awareness of the physiological coherence in the movements i make : infraconscious strategies come out, that everyone has when moving or putting oneself in movement, while revealing, through contrast, other possible strategies. This attention drawn to the movement also reveals what i feel when i am in this kinesthetic proximity with myself, and therefore gives me a taste of myself in relation to my body.
These realizations enable to learn from oneself. If my body is the most manifest place for present, drawing my attention to what happens in it enables to look at how i am in this present. Perceptive pedagogy thus speaks about an immanent experience of the self placed in the heart of sensibility and sensitivity, and, in that respect, claims that one can learn from this inner place.
Learning implies enrichment, particularly perceptive enrichment here. Thus, by accessing a larger palette of nuances and variations, perceptive pedagogy offers the possibility of a modification in my relation to my movement, and, by resonance, in my relation to myself.
Tools
According to the wants and needs of the person, perceptive psychopedagogy uses 5 tools, all guided by the practitioner :
- through touch on a table : the practitioner puts his/her hands on the person's body ; it is an ideal moment for a rest, and thus release the physical and psychological tensions ; it opens the gate to a closer relation to oneself and the access to a finer perception of the movement : the hand and words of the practitioner draw the person's attention to places or states to observe
- through action, on a chair or standing : the person engages her body in a movement in space ; this practice allows a better perception of oneself in movement, and therefore creates a clearer link to action and daily-life ways of behaving
- through sensorial meditation : staying in a relative immobile body position, the person can then let perceptive information about the movement come to her senses
- through verbalization : the practitioner invites the person to describe the experience itself : perceptive psychopedagogy states that, by describing the experience to oneself, one can identify the concerns generated by the experience for oneself ; it is then a part of each session
- through writing on a logbook : the person writes about what/how she perceives/feels of the movement in between each session, she's invited to write about how the session keeps being at stake on a daily basis
Whom it is intended for
Perceptive psychopedagogy is very useful for people :
- who would like to engage into a kinesthetic proximity with themselves
- who search for tools allowing more presence to oneself, more self-confidence
- with chronic physical pain
- suffering stress
- suffering tiredness, sleep disturbances or attention deficiency
- going through fragile emotional states
- seeking for tools to apply in their daily life to feel more connected with themselves and more focused
